I hear this oh so often from radio ads to newspaper inserts…” it’s a new year, time for a new you…yada yadda!” Well, here at Ignite Fitness we don’t want a “new you”. Quite frankly, we like the old you!! All we are striving to do is help the “old you” better your life. Don’t buy into the marketing scheme mumbo jumbo floating around out there. You ever hear the saying “can’t teach an old dog new tricks?” Ya ya, I called you “old”! What I am simply trying to say is, we are not trying to change the way you think, the way you do things or the way you act. We just want to help you implement some good habits into your life. In the New Year don’t look for an NEW YOU, just simply throw these three easy tricks into your life to bring about some longevity.
- EAT MORE FREQUENTLY – Yes, eat more times throughout the day. You have to eat to survive anyways, throw in a few more snacks to help jumpstart that dormant metabolism that once fluttered like a hummingbird. Aim for five small meals a day with complex carbohydrates, lean protein and good fats (3, 6 & 9).
- EXERCISES MORE FREQUENTLY – Oh boo hoo! So you have to work out for 30 minutes a day, it won’t kill ya! In fact, it will do the opposite. Exercising regularly will prevent and ward off many health issues; diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure etc.
- SLEEP MORE – Okay okay, I know that Netflix marathon is calling your name at 11:00 PM but it can wait. According to the NYSE this morning, it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon! So hit pause and get some shut eye. Rest is important! This is when the body recovers from the physical stress you unleashed on it earlier today. Statistics says 8 hours of restless sleep, other sources say 6 hours of restless sleep…So I am going to tell you somewhere between 6-8 hours of restless sleep, let that body recover then you can un-pause your precious Netflix show.
