The human body is an absolutely amazing machine at work! Our bodies are incredible at adapting, so much so that performing the same exercises repeatedly, your muscles adjust to make that exercise easier. Your body is no longer being pushed or challenged and therefore has no reason to continue developing strength for that exercise.
WAYS TO CHANGE IT UP:
Playing with tempo – 2 seconds up, 1 second pause, 3 seconds down
Change resistance – Add 5 pounds to your normal weight
Alter your duration – Make your workouts shorter and more intense. Or if already short, make them 20-30 minutes longer.
Add HIIT training – Intervals on the treadmill, Boot Camp class, or circuit training.
Slow it down – Try a yoga class to increase your flexibility.
This will incorporate all the key elements of fitness into your training regimen: cardio, strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance.
