Days before the ball drops, I would venture to say that there is well over a billion dollars spent on fitness ads, swaying you to join a gym. Ads as corny as “New Year, New You!” It’s like nails on a chalk board when I hear that! It’s not a “new you”. In fact it’s the same YOU that bit on the same corny ad from the year before and the year before that and the year before that…the fact of the matter is, stop trying to build a new YOU and start becoming a BETTER YOU. A better version of yourself is all you need to aim for to reach progress in the gym.
“12% of new gym memberships come in January by percentage, but it actually represents about a 33-50% increase in volume. The second week of January is almost always the busiest of the year.
80% of the New Year’s Resolutions crowd drops off by the second week of February. Meaning only 20% remain, and the rate of sign-ups tapers off by February (almost all of that initial spike, save for maybe 1-2% of total volume for the year.)”
My guess is, the 80% of the New Year’s resolutions that drop off were the crowd that bought into these 30 day gimmicks, “New You”, or $1 a day ads. IF you want to make a New Year’s resolution, make it for a better you! A better you will follow through with you nutrition program, your workout program and have the mindset to finish something longer than two weeks. Don’t be a statistic, aim to make 2017 the best version of YOU!
